The Big Slugger...building up his confidence!

Yesterday (Thursday) Evan and Daddy headed to Fort White (about 50 minutes away) to play a game at 6:30 PM. After a rough day at the office - Daddy looked pretty beat up as he headed out the door. They stopped in Alachua to get Papa (Thanks for all the great photos Papa) and off they went. Here is Daddy's commentary (Thank YOU Daddy)- it's hard to blog about something you didn't get to be a part of!

Evan played catcher, right center field, left center field, and second base. He got to bat three times. First time he struck out, second time a hard hit to right center field which resulted in him getting on first base. He then got to go to second, and finally from second Daddy got to send him to home for a run (Daddy was third base coach). Third time at bat he hit a good grounder to pitcher who could not handle the hard hit and was safe at first. Subsequent batters struck out and the inning ended.

I have no idea why he made such a face- but it's worth noting!

Evan's team won the game by a lot of points (there is a seven run rule in any one inning and the team had to take the field two out of the four times at bat due to this rule). He seemed pretty pleased.

Now the second game- tonight (Friday).

Evan got up to bat two times. He hit a single each time. The first time, with some fielding errors, he got all the way to third.

Then he got batted in...here's his home run!

The second single at bat he was stopped at first due to great out fielding. Before Evan was up to bat there were 2 outs and after his base hit, the following batter struck out and the inning was over. Here he is darting off to first base!!

The other team won...so the homecoming tonight was not as energized as last night. Oh well...you win some you lose some.
